About

The Hoover Crescent Islamic Center (HCIC) is one of the largest Muslim prayer facilities in the greater Birmingham area, as well as the current administrative home of the Birmingham Islamic Society.

Opened in December 2007, HCIC is located 10 miles south of Birmingham in the heart of Hoover, Alabama. It provides prayer, educational, and community administration services for all of central Alabama.

Seated on a 6.5 acre property, it features an approximately 13,000 square foot facility. It includes a spacious prayer hall with a capacity of 400 worshippers, parking for up to 200 cars, administrative office spaces, furnished classrooms, and restroom facilities with ablution stations. Recently, wireless internet service coverage was added to the facility, free for the community.

The center, along with its sister facility in Homewood, provides a central meeting place and focal point for community events.

Future Plans

BIS has a phased plan to expand the facility’s offerings to the community in the future.

The grand opening of the center in December 2007 marked the completion of Phase I, which included interior renovations to prepare the center for the community’s use.

Phase II calls for the addition of a multipurpose gymnasium/event hall facility.

Phase III will add more classrooms, meeting spaces, program areas, and work spaces to the facility. It will also include final exterior renovations to the facility.
