ssalam o Alaikum,
We are grateful to Allah (SWT) for the opportunity that has been bestowed upon us. BIS along with other organizations, is gearing up to welcome Afghan refugee families to our great city of Birmingham. There may be as many as 7 families. We are expecting families to arrive starting November 15. Incoming families will be needing a lot of help in their resettlement. Please donate generously towards this cause. Please click https://tinyurl.com/zjm8fp69 to make monetary donations. If you write a check, please write on your “Afghan Refugees Support” in the memo section.

“Working with Inspiritus and Alabama Interfaith Refugee Partnership (ALIRP), Birmingham Islamic Society’s Outreach committee is getting ready for the arrival of about 7 Afghan families to Birmingham. We do not know the exact date but it may be another two to three weeks before they arrive.
Here are the needs:
- The most important need is housing. Inspiritus is looking for house/apartments available for rent that are within walking distance for public transportation. Please email brother Ashfaq at Ashfaq.firstname.lastname@example.org if you can or you know someone who can help.
- We need volunteers. To be a volunteer, one must pass the background check, cost of $35 is expected from the volunteer, if one cannot afford it, BIS will cover the cost. Volunteer needs to attend a one-hour orientation, which is recorded and can be viewed at your convenience.
